Chrome Tab Audio Muting

Chrome Tab Audio Muting

Posted: June 9, 2016. | By: Admin

Ever wondered how to mute just one specific tab in Google Chrome? Here's how.
Most browsers usually have a built-in way to mute only a specific tab, but Chrome still hasn’t released an update to do this yet. Fortunately, they’ve made a way that you can still mute only a certain tab. You don’t even need to download anything, all you need to do is enable an experimental feature.

1. First, open up Chrome and go to chrome://flags/#enable-tab-audio-muting. Just right click the link and copy it, then open a new tab and paste it in. Once you’re there, you should see a huge list of experimental features and options. But at the top there should be a highlighted one that says, “Tab audio muting UI control”. Enable that one, and then click Relaunch Chrome at the bottom of the page.

2. Good job! Now you’ve enabled it and you’re ready to go. Now, to mute a tab, all you need to is click the little sound icon on any tab that’s playing music:

3. And then the icon should show a new muted icon:

4. Click it again to unmute it and enable audio again.
